This recently released book, "The New Face of Jazz," is a collection of interviews and stories from over 200 current jazz artists. Cicily Janus is a musician, jazz instructor, and writer for Downbeat Magazine. Per Roger: "She interviewed me for this book in 2009. I am honored to be included with such a distinguished group of my contemporaries."   You can read more about this book in an interview that Cicily gave to NPR in July 2010.

Since 2004, Roger maintains an "Artist in Residence" and "Teacher of Jazz Trumpet" position at the Music Conservatory of the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Roger also teaches the Jazz Pedagogy course at Roosevelt's CCPA.

Roger has joined the faculty at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois. Beginning spring semester 2012, he will be directing the Jazz Ensemble and presenting concerts.

During the summer months, in addition to pedagogy tours, public performances, and recording sessions, he teaches from home in Chicago. See the schedule for details about his upcoming activities.

I am extremely pleased to announce my new trumpet: The Jupiter Professional XO-1600I, manufactured by Jupiter Band Instruments, Inc. The official release party for the new horn was the "Trumpet Festival, College Fair, Day of Jazz" on April 17, 2010 at Jim's Music in Tustin California. From December 2008 through September 2009 I was involved with the design, research, and development of a new XO series professional trumpet, the XO-1600I. The initial prototype was fantastic; it was designed and perfected by me with Jupiter's design team, headed by the great brass technician and designer, Don Sawday, with the expert input of Pat Sheridan and Sam Pilafian.   In mid-September '09 I tested the first factory runs, and I have to take my hat off to the technicians at the Jupiter factory. These horns are consistent and fabulous. It's without a doubt the best trumpet I've ever played. It debuted at the 2009 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, Illinois and the 2010 NAMM show (National Association of Musical Manufacturers) in Anaheim, California. This affordable new horn is now available from Jupiter dealers. Roger was in the studio in June with the Chicago Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble, and the results were released on August 24th in the form of "Blueprints", an exciting and innovative collection of material. The album is available on amazon, cdbaby, itunes, and other places. Check it out now!

• Roger regularly performs with the world renowned CALJE big band at Chicago's Jazz Showcase, Andy's Jazz Club, and other venues in the greater Chicagoland area. Keep your eye on the schedule for upcoming performances at these venues.

• Roger often can be heard leading the trumpet section of the Tom Matta Big Band at Chicago's Jazz Showcase. Comprised of a veritable "who’s who" in Chicago's thriving jazz scene, this ensemble is dedicated to the performance of music written for and by members of the band. The TMBB features compositions and arrangements of Tom Matta, many of which are published by Kendor Music, Andel Editions, and the UNC Jazz Press.
• Roger performs alongside some of the Chicago area's most talented musicians with the Rob Parton Big Band. The monthly show is usually held every 3rd Sunday 6:00-9:30pm at Fitzgerald's, a club since the 1920s and one of Chicago's jazz mainstays since the 1950s.   The new Rob Parton Big Band features the following artists. Saxophones Ken Partyka, Chris Madsen, Mark Colby, John Wojciechowski, and Dave Schumacher; Trombones Tom Garling, Andy Baker, Tim Coffman, and Tom Matta; Trumpets Roger Ingram, Ron Friedman, Victor Garcia, Scott Wagstaff, and BJ Cord; Rhythm section Bob Rummage (drums), Stewart Miller (acoustic and electric bass), Kevin O'Connell (piano and keyboards), and Mike Pinto (guitar). Vocals are performed by Kristy Parton and Rob Parton leads the band from the front playing trumpet solos and conducting.
