The new Ingram V-Cup and Ingram Lead trumpet mouthpieces are available at one of Tokyo's largest musical instrument stores. Joy Brass of Sanada & Co (formerly "Shires Music") in Ota-Ku, Tokyo has both mouthpieces in stock. My long-time student and friend Kazutaka Yoshino introduced these mouthpieces at Miki Gakki Shinsaibashi's Trumpet Fair in Osaka during the Kazutaka Yoshino Adviser's Day, March 31 and April 1. These American-made mouthpieces are available at Joy Brass (in addition to OneTooTree.com) for those who reside in Japan.

Since 2004, Roger has maintained an "Artist in Residence" and "Teacher of Jazz Trumpet" position at the Music Conservatory of the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Beginning in 2011, Roger also teaches the Jazz Pedagogy course at Roosevelt's CCPA.
In addition to being on faculty at Roosevelt University's CCPA, Roger has just joined the faculty of the Music Department at the University of Missouri - St Louis. He will be teaching students at the UMSL trumpet studio. Roger will be at UMSL Fridays and Saturdays during the 2012 spring semester. Roger is also available for private students from the area during those days, lessons to be held at the Villa Annex on campus at UMSL. You can meet and hang with Roger at the Jupiter booth at the ITG convention May 23-25. The 2012 International Trumpet Guild Conference is May 22-26, 2012, at the Schwob School of Music and RiverCenter for the Performing Arts at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia. Roger will also be a guest soloist with the Joe Gransden Big Band at the evening concert (7:30pm) on Thursday May 24 in the Bill Heard Theatre.
"All That Jazz" is the Jazz Festival in Chesterton Indiana. The event is being held at the Chesterton High School (2125 S 11th St, Chesterton IN 46304) on May 18th and 19th. Roger will be presenting a clinic and guest soloing at the concert.
Roger presented clinics at the LaPorte High School Jazz Festival (602 F St, LaPorte IN 46350) on May 3rd and 4th. He was also be a guest soloist at the final concert of the event on May 4th.
Roger was the guest soloist and clinician with Georgia Institute of Technology's Jazz Ensemble on Saturday April 14th. While in Georgia, he also performed with the fabulous Joe Gransden Big Band to a sell-out crowd at Atlanta's Cafe 290 on Monday April 16th.
Seattle Christian Schools hosted "A Day with Roger Ingram" with clinics and a concert on March 24 7:00-8:30pm.
Roger presented an open trumpet clinic at the University of Missouri St Louis on Saturday March 3 from 1:00-3:00pm at the Villa Annex on the UMSL south campus. (Info at AllAboutJazz and facebook)

This recently released book, "The New Face of Jazz," is a collection of interviews and stories from over 200 current jazz artists. Cicily Janus is a musician, jazz instructor, and writer for Downbeat Magazine. Per Roger: "She interviewed me for this book in 2009. I am honored to be included with such a distinguished group of my contemporaries."

I am extremely pleased to announce my new trumpet:
The Jupiter Professional XO-1600I,
manufactured by Jupiter Band Instruments, Inc. The official release party for the new horn was the "Trumpet Festival, College Fair, Day of Jazz" on April 17, 2010 at Jim's Music in Tustin California.
From December 2008 through September 2009 I was involved with the design, research, and development of a new XO series professional trumpet, the XO-1600I. The initial prototype was fantastic; it was designed and perfected by me with Jupiter's design team, headed by the great brass technician and designer, Don Sawday, with the expert input of Pat Sheridan and Sam Pilafian.
In mid-September '09 I tested the first factory runs, and I have to take my hat off to the technicians at the Jupiter factory. These horns are consistent and fabulous. It's without a doubt the best trumpet I've ever played. It debuted at the 2009 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, Illinois and the 2010 NAMM show (National Association of Musical Manufacturers) in Anaheim, California. This affordable new horn is now available from Jupiter dealers. More information about this instrument can be found on the equipment page of my website.

Roger regularly performs with the world renowned CALJE big band at Chicago's Jazz Showcase, Andy's Jazz Club, and other venues in the greater Chicagoland area. Keep your eye on the schedule for upcoming performances at these venues.
"The Chicago Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble (CALJE) offers a big band experience that most cities can't afford, but most musicians and listeners across the country would love to own. There are very few groups like this around the country: Arturo O'Farril's Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra in New York, Jose Rizo's Jazz on the Latin Side All-Stars in Los Angeles, and the Chicago Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble are the rare gems of this genre."
Roger often can be heard leading the trumpet section of the Tom Matta Big Band at Chicago's Jazz Showcase. Comprised of a veritable "who’s who" in Chicago's thriving jazz scene, this ensemble is dedicated to the performance of music written for and by members of the band. The TMBB features compositions and arrangements of Tom Matta, many of which are published by Kendor Music, Andel Editions, and the UNC Jazz Press.
